Racism

Are You Racist?

Not too long ago I had a young lady say to me it’s not always about color and I also had someone tell me that I am racist. Well I started thinking what such hypocrites some people are, to say that I am racist and not really know the ins and outs of what I have been through or what I’ve seen in my life. I always remember a voice of the past has said to me many times, “Baby just keep on living and you will see” and I will say the same to you all now. To say that I am just plain out right racist is wrong, but to say that I have prejudices would be right. I have lived, experienced, and seen some incidents that have been directed toward me and some were indirectly said toward me, and these things have always been based on my race and skin color. It’s because of life experiences we become who we are. The mistake that people often make is thinking that someone is automatically racist just because of the color of their skin. No! I do not dislike someone because of their skin color; I am prejudice toward the person(s) that treat me in different manner because of my race and skin color. For all of you who think they know what racism is check yourself, you may find that you are just like me. So don’t hate on my prejudices, they keep me focused. If you find that there comes a time when you may have to choose between your race and another (please trust me, the time will come), you’ll be surprised what the outcome will be. I on the other hand, won’t be surprised. It has been said and proven over and over again: “The Black race is the only race that doesn’t stick together”. You decide. Base your decision on facts! When you have the answer, whether you’re Black, African American, or whatever you want to call yourself, and you know you are not down with your people for REAL then figure out what to do to make a positive change, and do it. Don’t call me out until you figure YOU out.
