Racism

Are You Racist?

Not too long ago I had a young lady say to me it’s not always about color and I also had someone tell me that I am racist. Well I started thinking what such hypocrites some people are, to say that I am racist and not really know the ins and outs of what I have been through or what I’ve seen in my life. I always remember a voice of the past has said to me many times, “Baby just keep on living and you will see” and I will say the same to you all now. To say that I am just plain out right racist is wrong, but to say that I have prejudices would be right. I have lived, experienced, and seen some incidents that have been directed toward me and some were indirectly said toward me, and these things have always been based on my race and skin color. It’s because of life experiences we become who we are. The mistake that people often make is thinking that someone is automatically racist just because of the color of their skin. No! I do not dislike someone because of their skin color; I am prejudice toward the person(s) that treat me in different manner because of my race and skin color. For all of you who think they know what racism is check yourself, you may find that you are just like me. So don’t hate on my prejudices, they keep me focused. If you find that there comes a time when you may have to choose between your race and another (please trust me, the time will come), you’ll be surprised what the outcome will be. I on the other hand, won’t be surprised. It has been said and proven over and over again: “The Black race is the only race that doesn’t stick together”. You decide. Base your decision on facts! When you have the answer, whether you’re Black, African American, or whatever you want to call yourself, and you know you are not down with your people for REAL then figure out what to do to make a positive change, and do it. Don’t call me out until you figure YOU out.

Peace and Love

  1. everyone is prejudice, whether they chose to acknowledge it is a different story. these predudices may have come about because of the experiences we have in life, but these thpughts are best kept to ourselves lest we risk angering someone else

  2. I agree with u 100%. Our ppl don't stik together as we sould. We all have our prejudices, but few will b women or man enough to admit it. I have mine and I speak them I could careless who they offend. It does no good to hold it on the inside. And besides nothing has changed in the way whites feel about blacks, they just know how to play the game, but u can best believe they may work with u but how many invite u to their homes? So to call my sister a racist is out of line. She in not a racist she has her likes and dislikes like anyone else, its just she is honest about how she feels. So know the difference between a racist and someone who has prejudices due to things they've bn through. I love u and I love ur honesty, let no one silence u!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Ma, it's a good thing that you pointed out your reasons why someone may think of you to be racist. It tells people don't be so quick to judge, when we're all really doing the same thing. As for me, I don't dislike someone until they do a wrong doing to me, then they deserve to be disliked. God says to forgive, so I'll do it reluctantly sometimes, but I still don't have to like them. We're all fighting battles, so before someone starts namecalling they need to look in a mirror.

  4. outside looking in. What is really prejudice! I believe it is not just the skin color. I view it as a host of different unlikings. At one time, I myself was prejudice of heavy set people. But, I came to realize when I myself got heavy. It was all in my mind not my heart. We are sometimes, prejudice of our own race, prejudice, when, we take on a different job, prejudice of somepeople who do not want to eat our food, to sum it up, I guest prejudice is in all of us for one reason or another. In conclusion i would like to say sometimes, it is good prejudice when, we get someone to understand our way of thinking not as race but, as a person and maybe, they would contribute back an understanding in a good way to come up with a solution. Sister so true as you said do not be so quick to judge!
